What’s Next For Vaping?

Can Procuria help you be prepared for the ban?

What is a disposable?

A disposable typically offers around 600 to 1000 puffs with a 2ml pre-filled pod which cannot be refilled or replaced, and a pre-charged battery that is not rechargeable.

Once empty, the device is disposed of entirely.

Under new legislation, disposables or ‘single-use’ vapes are now classed as any device that is NOT all three:

  1. Refillable

  2. Rechargeable

  3. Replaceable

What is the ban?

As of 1st June 2025, disposable/ ‘single-use’ vapes are banned. That means any vapes sold, offered for sale or have in possession MUST follow the new requirements (refillable, rechargeable and replaceable).

Once the ban takes effect, any reusable device must be accompanied by readily available, compatible replacement pods. Failure to do so will constitute a breach of legislation.

What Retailers Should Be Doing Now to Prepare for the Ban

Retailers should have already informed customers about the ban and educated their staff, ensuring they are fully confident answering customer questions and offering compliant alternatives.

Post-ban compliant products should be on display next to the same disposable brands to help customers recognise familiar brands and their compliant alternatives. Any informative posters or POS will also aid in customer education.

Retailers should have already reduced disposable orders to essential best-sellers they know will sell out before 1st June.

After the ban, ALL stock must now meet new regulations and retailers must keep track of potential changes or new future legislation which may affect vape displays, flavours or packaging.

Absolutely no disposables should be on shelves – if not already appropriately disposed of via an ethical WEEE recycling scheme, they should be placed in a secure box away from the shop floor labelled ‘Not for Sale’.

Retailers should note that Procuria suppliers will not accept returns on any unsold disposable stock.
