What Retailers Should Be Doing Now: Key Transitions from Disposables

With the disposable vape ban now here, retailers should have plans in place for their disposable stock. The shift away from disposables isn’t just about removing old stock, it’s about actively helping customers transition to compliant formats that mimic the experience they’re used to.

Introduce pre-filled pod kits that offer a like-for-like alternative to traditional disposables. Options like the SKE 600 Pro, Lost Mary BM600 pre-filled pod kit, and Elf Bar 600 pre-filled pod kit all follow the same compact design and puff count, but are post-ban compliant. These devices are rechargeable, use replaceable pods, and are simple for customers to use.

For retailers looking to offer more variety or higher capacity formats, products like the IVG 2400 multi-pod kit are also gaining traction. These hold four 2ml pods inside a single device with the ability to change the flavour at any time with the revolving pod system. This is a post-ban compliant alternative to the IVG 2400 disposable version.

Act Now

Now the ban is in place, any remaining disposables must be removed from shelves completely. These should be stored in a sealed box labelled ‘Not for Sale’, and kept away from the shop floor. Retailers are advised to set up a recycling arrangement to ethically dispose of leftover stock. This is not just a best practice, but part of your legal responsibility under WEEE regulations.

From 1st June 2025, all remaining stock must comply with new regulations and pod kits must be accompanied with the replacement pods available for purchase in order to be compliant. Retailers should stay updated on any upcoming legislation changes regarding flavours or packaging – check our free online Retail Vape Guide regularly for updates.
