Procuria customers nominated for BBC Make A Difference Awards

Bristol Shop owners, Lucy and Rich Smith have been shortlisted for the BBC Radio Bristol Make a Difference Awards for going out of their way to make an autism & neurodiverse-friendly shop.

Lucy & Rich expressed their surprise

We are overwhelmed to be nominated for this award. Our business was set up just a couple of days before the first Lockdown in March 2020 and we had to adapt to the needs of the community.

We found it very difficult to operate during covid restrictions and one of our biggest challenges was our suppliers. Procuria stepped up to support us when other more well known brands didn’t.

Helen Cornell, who nominated the couple said

Lucy and Rich…give young people with neurodiverse conditions, such as autism, a stepping stone into employment through their work experience program

Thanks to this nomination, they have a chance of winning at the special awards ceremony on September 30th at the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare.

Lucy and Richard, founders and owners of Your Village Shop, located within Stoke Gifford Retirement Village, caters to those who may find difficulties performing their daily shop, and eliminates obstacles whilst offering a unique work experience scheme.

Lucy & Rich are now working with young people to develop work experience and career opportunities in retail and other industries.
